Ingredients:
1 pound pork hock (sometimes referred to as ham hock) (or 2 cups cooked ham chunks)
36 ounces fresh or frozen green beans (in bite-size pieces)
3 quarts liquid
4 large yellow or red potatoes, skin on, chopped into bite-size bits
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon powdered garlic
1 teaspoon powdered onion
12 tsp ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt, plus salt to taste
14 tsp cloves (ground)
12 tsp cinnamon oil (just a smidgeon) (about 1-2 Tablespoons)
Instructions:
Step1: In the bottom of the crock pot, place the ham hock (or ham chunks), then add the green beans, water, and potato chunks. If you cut the potatoes too large, they will take a long time to cook once the rest of the meal is ready. I enjoy going for walks.
1 inch in diameter or less
Step 2: The thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, cloves, and cinnamon will be added next. After fully mixing, drizzle with a small amount of oil (1-2 teaspoons) before covering.
Step 3: Cook for 4 hours on high or 6-7 hours on low. This is dependent on whether you will be at home or not, as well as how quickly you need it completed. Don’t overcook the green beans or they’ll get mushy. However, you do want the potatoes to be done.
Step 4: When the green beans and potatoes are done, remove the ham hock and set it aside to cool before chopping it. While cooling and chopping up, put the crockpot on the warm setting.the ham pieces. Add the ham pieces back in and serve.
